About Pension Age Disability Payment review decisions

Understanding a review decision

A new decision following a review is called a determination.

Social Security Scotland will tell you if your award will stop, reduce or increase after a review. They’ll also tell you why.

If you continue to be entitled to Pension Age Disability Payment, Social Security Scotland will tell you:

Indefinite awards

You may be given an indefinite award if your needs are highly unlikely to change.

This means your award will not be reviewed in the future unless you tell us that something has changed.

How review decisions affect other benefits you get

If your award changes or stops following a review, this could affect other benefits that you get.

If you get benefits from any of these organisations, you should tell them about changes to your award:

  • your local council
  • HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC)
  • Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)

To find out about extra support with costs you can call Social Security Scotland for free on 0800 182 2222. Opening times are Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.

Find out what to do if you need help contacting Social Security Scotland, or are calling from abroad.

If you disagree with a decision

If you do not agree with Social Security Scotland's decision you have the right to ask them to take a fresh look at their decision. This is called a re-determination.
