Motability leases

Moving from Personal Independence Payment (PIP) to Adult Disability Payment will not affect your Motability Scheme lease.

Social Security Scotland will: 

• tell the company you lease the vehicle from about the move
• take over payments from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)

If you have a vehicle, powered wheelchair or scooter through the Motability Scheme, you'll be able to keep it until the end of your lease.  

If your lease ends during the move, you can renew your lease with Motability.

You'll then be able to lease a vehicle from the Accessible Vehicles and Equipment (AVE) scheme. The scheme includes:

• cars
• wheelchair accessible vehicles
• powered wheelchairs
• scooters

All leases include insurance, breakdown cover, servicing, and road tax.
