What to do if a supplier contacts you
If a registered supplier contacts you about using your voucher to set up a broadband service, follow these steps:
1. Discuss your options with the supplier
Ask the supplier about your options, including the cost of the service and any fees. The supplier must be able to offer you a faster broadband service that costs no more than £56.20 per month. You can choose to pay more if you want to.
2. Decide if you want to use this supplier
It's up to you if you want to use this supplier. You can contact other suppliers to find the best option. Check the full list of registered suppliers to find out which suppliers are working in your area.
3. Choose which service you want
At this point, you enter into a commercial contract with your supplier. The supplier will contact the Scottish Government with your details. You’ll then get an email from the Scottish Government.
4. Confirm your choice of supplier
You need to confirm your choice of supplier with the Scottish Government so they can approve your voucher funding and work can begin. Registered suppliers have up to 12 months to install a connection. The supplier who installs your connection will also supply your broadband service for a minimum of one year. You must sign a contract agreeing to this.
5. Confirm your service is live
The Scottish Government will send you an email when your broadband service is live. You must reply to this so that your supplier can receive the voucher payment.
6. Reclaim any VAT
If you are a VAT registered busines, your supplier can charge you for VAT on the costs that they incurred while connecting you. You should be able to reclaim this from HMRC.
