Home emergency plan

  1. Pick a friend or relative who lives out of the area, who you will agree to call to say you're OK if you need to leave home. Make sure this person knows they are your contact.

  2. Make a list of your:

    • local radio station frequency
    • schools/colleges contacts
    • insurance company details
    • carer/childminder details
    • veterinary details (if you have pets)
    • work contacts
    • local authority
    • doctor
    • gas supplier
    • electricity supplier
    • plumber
    • other
  3. Pick a meeting place for your family if you get separated
    • meeting Place 1 (near home)
    • meeting place 2 (further away)
  4. Check on your neighbours if it is safe to do so, especially vulnerable people living close by. Have a think about who they are in advance.

  5. Keep the emergency plan up to date
