Home emergency kit
You and your family should prepare for severe weather or emergencies. You should pack a small emergency kit and keep it in a safe place.
Keep your emergency kit in a waterproof bag and include:
- a copy of your home emergency plan
- a battery operated or wind up torch and radio
- mobile phone chargers and spare batteries
- essential medication, toiletries and a first aid kit
- a 3 day supply of bottled water and ready-to-eat food (that will not go off)
- photocopies of important documents like insurance policies and birth certificates
- a pencil, paper, penknife and whistle
- spare keys to your home and car
- spare glasses or contact lenses
Think about what else is important for you and your family to get by during an emergency, for example:
- pet supplies
- food supplies
- formula/baby food
