Social Security Scotland research needs to know about languages and communication use

Social Security Scotland wants to improve its service for people.  To do so, researchers want to talk to people who use English as a second language. They also want to speak to people who use alternative forms of communication such as Braille, British Sign Language (BSL) or Easy Read.

Research aims

They want to find out:

  • if you've heard about Social Security Scotland’s benefits
  • your experience when applying
  • what you think about Social Security Scotland’s alternative communication services such as translations, BSL and Braille

This will help them find out what they're doing well and where they can do better.

What’s involved

Researchers might invite you to take part in a focus group.

 Focus groups:

  • are in person
  • last about 1 hour 30 minutes
  • have other participants
  • are led by researchers

As a thank you for taking part, you will be given a £50 voucher.
