Setting up and using your ScotAccount

If you do not have a ScotAccount, you’ll get information from the service you're using about how to set one up if needed.

You can set up a ScotAccount at any time. But you will not be able to add personal details or verify your identity until you’re asked to do this to access a public service.

To set up your ScotAccount you’ll need:

  • an email address
  • a mobile phone or UK landline number – this is so you can get a security code

Managing the information in your ScotAccount

If you have a ScotAccount, you can sign in to:

  • delete personal details from your account, such as your name, address or date of birth
  • delete your ScotAccount if you no longer want to use it

You cannot currently update any personal details on your ScotAccount. This option will be available soon.

If you need help to use ScotAccount

If you’re signed into ScotAccount and get stuck or are not sure what to do, you can get help. Select the ‘Get help with this page’ link on any screen within ScotAccount and fill in the contact form. Someone will reply to you by email. They’ll reply as quickly as possible, but it may take up to 2 working days.

You can also ask someone you know to help you use ScotAccount. This might be a friend, family member, or someone who is supporting you as part of their job.
