If you do not pay

Challenging an FPN

You can challenge an FPN if it should not have been given to you. For example, you can challenge it if the offence did not happen, or you did not own the vehicle at the time it happened.

You have 21 days to challenge an FPN.

How to challenge

Complete ‘part 3’ on the back of the FPN and send it to the address provided.

You may be asked to go to court to provide evidence.

You can get legal advice from a solicitor before going to court. You could be eligible for legal aid to help pay for legal costs if you’re on a low income.
