Public sector properties

If you’re a public body funded by the Scottish Budget, you are encouraged to pre-agree your properties’ valuations with the assessor before revaluation.

The Scottish Government does not usually support challenges to non-domestic property valuations from the public sector. Public bodies can only challenge non-domestic property valuations in exceptional circumstances, for example:

  • if the public body takes on a new property and disagrees with the valuation
  • if there is a material change in circumstances

Public bodies must tell the Scottish Government at ndr@gov.scot before submitting any proposal or appeal.

If an assessor asks for information, you should respond in good time to help them make an accurate valuation.
