Getting funding from Independent Living Fund Scotland
You could get extra funding if you’re disabled, live in Scotland, and need extra money to live independently.
The money comes from the Independent Living Fund Scotland (ILF Scotland).
You can apply for:
- the Independent Living Fund – an extra weekly payment of up to £330 for people aged 16 and over
- the Transition Fund – up to £4,000 for people aged 16 to 25 years
- the Transition Fund Technology Grant – to help people aged 16 to 25 years get online
Applying to the Independent Living Fund
If you apply after April 2024, you can get up to £330 per week from the Independent Living Fund.
You’re eligible if you’re:
- disabled
- living in Scotland
- aged 16 years and over
- getting Self-Directed Support
- getting at least £800 per week from a social care support package or Self-Directed Support – this does not include any benefits, like Housing Benefit
You cannot apply yourself. Your council’s social work department can apply for you.

Applying to the Transition Fund
You can apply for the Transition Fund to get a one-off grant of up to £4,000.
This is to help you take part in new activities or learn new skills.
You’re eligible if you:
- are disabled
- are living in Scotland
- are aged 16 to 25 years
- are getting money from the Transition Fund for the first time
- have less than £35,000 in personal savings

Applying for the Transition Fund Technology Grant
You can apply for the Technology Grant to get an Apple iPad or Microsoft Surface Go tablet.
This grant is to help you use the internet if you're currently unable to get online.

- aged 16 to 25 years
