If you want to build your own home, there are a number of different options when it comes to deciding who'll build it for you.

These include:

• hiring a main contractor (a single company)
• hiring separate contractors, each doing a different part of the build
• doing the building work yourself

Your architect will explain each option to you, and tell you their advantages and disadvantages.
