Help shape the future of Scotland's benefit system
We're looking to recruit people to take part in research for the Scottish Government.
We're looking to speak to a variety of people who've had experience of benefits in Scotland. This could include if you:
- currently receive a benefit, or have done in the past
- have supported someone else to apply for a benefit
- are a carer
- work for a support organisation that helps people access benefits
Incentives (normally shopping vouchers) are often available in return for your help.
Signing up to our research programme and taking part in our sessions will help us make sure the services meet the needs of the people who will use them.
About the research sessions
The research sessions can be held either:
- online
- over the phone
- in person
If you're asked to meet to discuss something in person
We can travel to your location or cover the cost of your expenses if you travel to us. Further support can also be provided to help you take part.
How to get involved
We've put together a form asking some questions about you and your experience. After you complete it, we may get in contact to offer you the opportunity to take part in any relevant research sessions.
Completing the form
You can complete the form online. The form should take around 10 minutes to complete.
Other opportunities for taking part in research
If you've made a benefit application to Social Security Scotland, you may also be contacted by our colleagues in Social Security Scotland with opportunities to take part in their research through the Client Panel. Joining our research database does not prevent you from signing up to another. You can participate in both.
Keeping your answers confidential
Your answers during research will be kept confidential. No one will be able to identify you in any of the reported results. Only people working in the research team will be able to see your name and contact details.
Taking part will not affect any of your applications or benefits. No one involved in making benefit decision will have access to your answers or know you've taken part.
Any personal information you provide will be held according to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You can find out more about this in our privacy notice.
You also have the right to access any personal data we hold about you by making a Subject Access Request.
