Ask for your personal data

You can ask Disclosure Scotland for a copy of your personal data by making a Subject Access Request under the UK General Data Protection Regulation.

To do this you can:

You will need to provide at least two of the following documents as proof of identity:

  • passport
  • driving licence
  • birth certificate (or certificated copy)
  • two official letters such as a bank statement or utility bill dated within the last six months

Information Disclosure Scotland might hold about you

The most common reasons Disclosure Scotland will hold your information is if you have:

  • previously applied for a disclosure from Disclosure Scotland
  • been considered for inclusion by Scottish Ministers in the children’s or adults’ barred lists
  • been cautioned or convicted for a relevant automatic barring offence that leads to Disclosure Scotland considering you for inclusion in children’s or adults’ barred lists
  • previously applied to be a lead countersignatory or countersignatory of an organisation registered with Disclosure Scotland
  • contacted Disclosure Scotland for any reason

After you make a Subject Access Request

Disclosure Scotland will write to you with a reference number for your request. You should get the information you ask for within one month.
